The Top Beaches in Indonesia
Pasar Pijang Spice Islands
The few people that have visited Kei have been mesmerized by one thing and that was Pasir Panjang. Translated it means long sandy beach. Long, yes with 12 kilometers of beach to play with. Sand, of course... you will be met by probably the whitest sand your eyes will ever see. The sand here is like powder and the reflection from the sun can hurt your eyes, so be sure to wear sunglasses. This beach, in the past was once voted by Lonely Planet as one of the top ten beaches in the world.
Pasir Panjang is a place that will leave you speechless at its pristine beauty. Even today, during the week, you will probably only share the 12-kilometer stretch of sand with a handful of other travellers. It is at the weekend where the locals will comne out and relax that you will have to share this treasure.
The locals are fortunate so far as large resorts have not yet arrived to take over this paradise. You will find a scattering of accommodation on the beach, all very simple and basic however you won't be spending much time in the bungalow as the beach will become your new friend.
Kuta Beach (Bali)
Already we are off to a controversial start. 30 years ago it was just being discovered by tourist and was still a hidden treasure. Today Kuta Beach is busy and crowded with tourist being pestered by people selling every trinket you could ever not wish to own. Yet in saying that people are still drawn to this peace of paradise for the spectacular sunsets, close proximity to the shops and hotels, and of course the surfing. Plus if you say no 3 times to the sellers they have to leave you alone or they could loose their seller’s license.
Dreamland (Bali)
Since 2005 Dreamland Beach has become more and more popular, firstly it was always popular with surfers, but the word has gotten out and you too can enjoy this beautiful beach with the cliffs behind you and the clear waters in front of you. There has been development of the area and it is changing from a sleepy hideaway to a swanky retreat. A great place to visit but it is a bit of a drive away from the main hotel area.
Dream Beach (Nusa Lembongan)
This beach has been well hidden for many years and even today doesn't receive that many visitors. It is blessed with powdery white sand all arching into a perfect crescent. Dream Beach can sometimes remind you of the awesome power that Mother Nature holds as the waves that land here, can at times be big and loud. It is only accessed by renting a motorbike and riding to the southern tip of Lembongan, There are a few bungalows here and a very rustic feel restaurant.

Kanawa Island just off the coast of Labuan Bajo ( Flores )
As the name suggests this beach is more of an island however this island only has one beach. The island itself is so small you will feel like a castaway surrounded by bright blue tropical waters and pristine golden sands. This is truly the place to come and escape the modern world. There is basic accommodation here all run by the same family. You will eat, sleep and socialize all in one place- Kanawa a true tropical haven.
Kadiri Island (Togian Archipelago)
The Togian Islands are blessed with some of the best beaches in the whole of Indonesia 's expansive archipelago. Kadiri Island takes one of those honors with its pristine water where you will find the most amazing sea life. The beach itself is picture postcard with palm trees swaying above the glistening virgin sands. Grow your beard and don't wash your hair as you will most certainly feel like Robinson Crusoe.
